CAN SOAP BUBBLES INSPIRE DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE?
Perhaps it is their almost ethereal nature, or maybe their perfectly rounded shape with soft and harmonious lines, but soap bubbles have always been perceived as something magical. Even today, soap bubbles remain a timeless classic loved by both children and adults alike.
Who has never been fascinated while watching these iridescent spheres floating gently through the air? Over the years, soap bubbles have also become a source of inspiration across many artistic fields, from architecture to design.

In 1968, Finnish designer Eero Aarnio introduced one of his most iconic creations: the Bubble Chair. A perfectly spherical hanging chair suspended from the ceiling rather than supported by a base.
Aarnio wanted to create a seat people could "retreat" into a safe and comfortable place to relax and disconnect from the outside world while still remaining visually connected to it. The suspended design also reflects the very nature of soap bubbles themselves: floating lightly in the air, seemingly weightless until they eventually disappear.
The Bubble Chair is therefore not simply a chair inspired by a soap bubble, but a true immersive experience.

Another iconic example from the last century this time from the architectural world is the Palais Bulles ("Bubble Palace"), a sculptural house built between 1975 and 1989 by Hungarian architect Antti Lovag.
The complex is located on the French Riviera, just a few kilometers from Cannes. It is an extraordinary architectural work where every room takes the shape of a bubble, repeating organically to create a large structure defined by flowing, rounded forms.
With this project, Antti Lovag sought to create a futuristic vision while using one of the most ancestral and natural forms imaginable.
The entire complex covers 1,200 square meters and can host up to 500 people. Today, the structure is used for events, private parties, and performances. And the rooms' resemblance to soap bubbles is impossible to ignore!

Today, the influence of soap bubbles has even reached the world of tourism. In recent years, we have seen the rise of so-called Bubble Rooms: transparent bubble-shaped accommodations usually immersed in nature and designed to maintain constant visual contact with the surrounding environment. Their resemblance to soap bubbles is remarkable!
Bubble Rooms are part of what is now known as glamping glamorous camping. A more comfortable and immersive way of experiencing nature while maintaining the charm of outdoor living. What is certain is that these accommodations offer a truly unique and, undoubtedly, romantic experience. More and more couples are choosing to spend at least one night beneath the stars, completely surrounded by a transparent "bubble."
